Ceramic vessel body sherd. The fabric is a hard-fired, pale orange material, with abundant sand temper and rare calcite inclusions erupting at the surfaces. A pale grey-white slip covers the exterior surface only, above which a thin mid-green glaze is evident. Occasional copper flecks adorn the glaze exterior. The sherd is a fragment of a large jug of Sandy Red Ware. Jugs are the most common type of form of the SRW industry
Medieval: AD 1250-1500
The vessel fragment is 36.4mm long, 22.5mm wide, 5.2mm thick and weighs 4.9g.
