Lead steelyard weight. Cast biconical weight with a moulded aperture of diameter 11mm, flat ends, a medial circumferential rib, and and indications on one side of an internal lead sleeve. This, and perhaps any other lost elements, would presumably have secured an iron suspension hook and its shank; the absence of these and any trace of rust may suggest the object was dismantled before its deposition. Patinated overall. Gouging and distortion are presumably post-depositional damage, unless in part incurred when the loop was withdrawn. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410.

Diameter: 29.3mm, Height: 22.0mm, Weight: 82.85gms.
