TOKEN

Unique ID: HAMP-AC8D96

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A post-medieval lead token with the initials T.C one one side (hatching above) and H.A on the other (hatching above). The token measures 21mm in diameter, 1.7mm in thickness and weighs 4.93g. It has been cast.
Reference: see Mitchiner 5423 et seq.

Notes:

Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely but those with initials are thought to date c. 1500-1850.
