A copper-alloy leg from a Medieval to post-Medieval cooking vessel.
The heavily damaged leg tapers towards the bottom, where there is a rounded point; the upper half is hollow and there is a prominent vertical ridge at the centre of the upper surface. Patches of a black coating can be seen, particularly towards the base.
Height: 54.5mm; width: 42.1mm; depth/thickness: 29.8mm. Weight: 87.75g.
Legs of a similar style can be seen on PAS record NARC-3775C7, a near-complete skillet dated to the period c. 1475-c. 1500. Given the fragmentary nature of this this piece, a more cautious date range of c. 1450-c. 1650 is suggested.
