Copper alloy brooch. Cast discoid plate brooch, Mackreth type British Plate 2.c. A central annulus with sunken centre; though apt to retain enamel no colorant remains here. This is surrounded by a thirteen pointed star design, with the star forming a single cell filled with dull red enamel, with a slightly raised outer rim and a central dot reserved or uncoloured for each of its points. There is a trace of an outer rim at one point, otherwise this is lost. The back bears twin lugs and the stub of a sprung pin, and the stub of a catch plate opposite. Suggested date: Roman, 120-250.
