An incomplete, copper alloy Roman initial T-shaped brooch probably dating from AD 60 - 90. The head is tubular with a central slot to accommodate the hinged pin. The copper alloy pin bar and a short section of the copper alloy pin remain in place. The bow is undecorated but has a slight central longitudinal rib, and has no distinct foot, simply tapering and flattening to an integral catch plate which also remains in place. The brooch has a smooth dark brown patina. It is 32mm long, 22.1mm wide and 12.7mm thick. It weighs 3.73gm.
A number of similarly undecorated brooches are recorded on the database; see for example references WILT-460F5A, SOM-0BA04E (defined as a Colchester derivative Initial T-shaped brooch) and SWYOR-20D1DC.
