A post-medieval copper-alloy strap mount.
The openwork mount takes the form of an equal-armed cross fleury with moulded details. The square central area of the cross is decorated by a lozenge-shaped panel. Four short 'arms' join the ends of each lis to that adjacent, creating a sub-oval outer frame. A column of three rivets has been applied to the centre of the otherwise flat reverse. The outer two of these rivets have been deliberately bent towards the centre. A white metal coating survives across both the front and back of the mount.
Length: 38.1mm; width: 35.3mm; thickness of mount (not including rivets): 2.6mm. Weight: 11.79g.
A close parallel for this piece is BH-260BA2, for which a mid-16th to mid-18th century date was suggested.
