An incomplete cast copper alloy two piece Jacobean shoe or knee buckle of the Post Medieval period. It is sub-rectangular in shape with rounded corners, making it almost oval in overall shape .It retains a cast copper alloy stud chape (Whitehead type I) although the stud is missing as is the pin. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar buckle on page 102, No.659, which is dated from c.1660-1720. The stud chape is from the earlier part of this period.
The length is 29mm, the width is 16mm and the weight 3.75g.
