A copper alloy lace chape or lace tag of medieval date. The lace tag is formed from a rolled sheet of copper alloy, being cylindrical in form with one open end and the other end folded over. There are two holes, one at either end, with one rivet retained. Lace tags are featured in Egan and Pritchard (1998:284-5) where they are dated from c. AD 1300-1500.
