A complete Medieval cast copper-alloy casket key, c. late 12th-early 14th century AD. The key has a seemingly solid stem of oval cross-section with a hollow oval end. The bow is circular in shape with a circular suspension hole with some wear on the inner edge, suggesting it was attached to another element via a chord or chain. At the other end, the bit is rectangular in shape with a pair of shallow semi-circular clefts central on either short side. The key measures 32.68 mm long, 11.44 mm wide (at bit), 12.95 mm diameter (at suspension loop), 3.56 mm thick; it weighs 4.36 grams. It has an even dark green patina.

Similar keys can be found illustrated in Read (2001, p72; Nos. 545-547, 549-550) all of which he dates to this period.
