A possible mule of a Roman silver denarius of Domitian, dating from AD 88 (Reece period 4). IMP . XIIII COS . XIIII CENS . P . P . P . reverse type depicting Minerva right on prow, brandishing javelin and holding shield. Mint of Rome.

The coin is in excellent condition, with both legends extremely clear; it is therefore uncertain whether there has been a slight error in the reverse legend or in the obverse legend as a combination of the above reverse legend and type with the obverse legend: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM P M TRP VII does not appear in RIC II, pp. 165-166. This coin is closest in type to that of RIC II, p. 165, no. 108, but that example has GERMAN rather than GERM in the obverse legend. The reverse legend clearly includes COS XIIII rather than COS XIII. Therefore, although a suggested date of AD 88 is likely, an exact parallel cannot be cited.
