An incomplete, cast copper alloy, sword belt fitting dating from the Post-Medieval period, AD 1500-1650. It is flat and sub-rectangular in plan. One end has a pair of shallow, semi-circular cut-outs forming a bi-concave end; the other end tapers to a narrow projection which is incomplete and may have been a hook. The hook end also has large circular holes forming attachment loops; one is broken. There is a slightly raised, central ridge along the fitting, with an incised, shallow groove running down its apex, running the length of the main body. To either dies of the ridge, the fitting is slightly fluted. There are two rivet holes on the midline, one at each end of the fitting. Both contain the remains of copper alloy rivets. The back of the fitting is mostly flat and both sides are undecorated. The fitting has a rough, light green patina. It has suffured post-depositional bending. It is 42.6mm long, 18.6mm wide and 2.3mm thick. It weighs 4.08gm.

Similar sword belt fittings can be found on the database; compare for example references LIN-738273, GLO-B0E551 and WMID-DF4646.
