A complete copper alloy finger ring with moulded decoration, probably of medieval to post medieval dating (AD 1200 to AD 1600).

The finger ring consists of a copper alloy hoop with moulded decoration. It has a rectangular cross section. The hoop is decorated with two horizontal ridges on one side, one on the other, and a low profile wide ridge between them. No inscription appears to be present.

The ring has an external diameter of 18.0 mm and an internal diameter of 15.3 mm. The hoop is 4.7 mm wide and 1.9 mm thick. It weighs 2.0 g.

Several comparative examples have been recorded. WMID-6296C3 is of a similar style, although the decoration is slightly different, was recovered from a site in Staffordshire as well. Excavations in London have turned up similar examples, with a similar style of decoration but without the prominent ridge. (Pritchard, 2002, p332, examples 1627 and 1629). The two examples from London came from contexts dated to the 15th Century.
