A large weight made of lead. The weight is roughly circular in shape, with a hole through the middle. One surface is flat the other is domed. The flat surface has been very poorly finished, as some of the lead from the domed surface has been rolled over onto the flat surface. The edges are rounded. The weight is undecorated. The weight has been crudely made. The surface of the weight is quite pitted. Some damage has occurred to the weight as a result of being hit by the plough, as several scratches and scars are evident on the surface of the weight. The lead has gone a light greyish-white colour. This weight is possibly medieval, but most probably post-medieval in date. Due to that fact that so few lead weights have been found in archaeological contexts, only a very broad date range can be allocated. Weight: 48g (1.7oz).
