Treasure reference number 2015 T360: a silver-gilt Medieval mount depicting Mary holding the crucified Christ. The mount shows Mary in the background, seated, with her head leaning to the right (her left). She is robed, and has her head covered. Draped across her knees is the lifeless body of the recently crucified Christ. His legs are shown diagonally, with feet together in the bottom right hand field. His left arm is stretched out to the side, and his left hand is held by Mary's left hand. His right arm flails down, with his hand almost touching the ground. Jesus is shown naked, apart from drapery around his waist. The base of the mount is flat. A small oval ridge is visible in the centre of the reverse, indicating where a projection for attachment was once placed.

A parallel for this mount could not be found, but silver-gilt mounts and pendants of similar form are common items reported thorugh the Treasure process, for example SWYOR-4CFE88 (2012 T558), KENT-EC65A5 (2013 T455), GLO-75E0F0 (2012 T908), NMS1453 and BM-1906D1 (2009 T369) for example which are all dated to the 15th - 16th centuries. Badges of similar design in base metals are also known e.g. NLM-620217 and Spencer (1998, 167-171) where a variety of shrines are suggested as the source.
