Flint core of broad Mesolithic/Neolithic date (9000 - 2200 BC). The core has been formed from a light grey coloured piece of flint which has cortex remaining on the unworked face. The core is sub-oval and curved in shape, and oval in section. There are possibly bi-polar striking platforms at opposite ends of the chunk, one being much more obvious than the other due to it's flat surface and possible evidence of platform dressing. Narrow blades have been removed from the worked curved side of the core from both ends by parallel striking. It is 34.1mm long x 27.9mm wide x 15.5mm thick. Weight 14.9g.
