An incomplete, copper alloy Roman brooch of the trumpet type, dating from AD 75 - 175. The remaining portion consists of the head and most of the bow. The foot is missing. There is an acanthus moulding encircling the shoulder of the bow with a slightly raised collar above and below. The front of the head retains part of a loop to hold the pin mechanism. The brooch has a dark green patina; the break in the bow is also patinated. The brooch is 33.5mm long, 12.7mm wide and 16.5mm thick. It weighs 7.83g.
