TREASURE CASE : 2015 T330.
An incomplete (at time of discovery) gold finger ring of medieval date. The hoop of the ring is narrow with a D-shaped section and is undecorated. The hoop flattens slightly at the shoulders where it meets the integral bezel. The bezel itself is square with sloping sides which terminate is a smaller square setting. This type of bezel is commonly known as a pie dish. At the time of discovery the setting was empty but subsequently had a small garnet applied by the finder prior to the realisation of the items status as potential Treasure.
Similar finger rings have been reported under the Treasure Act 1996 and recorded on the PAS database. For examples see: 2012 T768 (NLM-38D575), 2014 T242 (LEIC-F14C55) and 2010 T157 (LEIC-88E3F1).
