A complete tranchet axehead of Meolithic date. It is struck from a dark grey flint with patinated surfaces that are a mottled grey to white colour. The axe is plano-convex in form and of tranchet type, with bifacial flake removal. One face has a slight ridged back and the cutting edge is convex in form with transverse flake removal and possible limited semi-abrupt and scaled retouch. A small area of cortex remains at the haft/proximal end. The entire axe measures 126.80mm in length, 46.53mm in width, 24.92mm in thickness and 178.98g in weight. It is of Mesolithic date, c.10,000-4,000 BC.
