Copper alloy harness pendant fragment. About half of a cast heraldic harness pendant formed as a heater shield shaped plate. Abraded, torn, bent and corroded, but still retaining traces of red (gules) and blue (azure) enamel on its display face. These tints most frequently occur together in renditions based on the Arms of England, whose frequent appearance is sometimes linked to English engagement in the Hundred Years War. Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1350.
