A bone pin dating to the second to fourth century AD. The pin possesses an elongated hemispherical head. This extends to a circular-section stem, which tapers very slightly before terminating in a rounded point. The pin measures 86mm in length. The head has a diameter of 7mm; the stem, a diameter of 3mm. The pin can be assigned to Crummy's Type 3 (Pins with more or less spherical heads) (Crummy 1983, 21-22). Type 3 is difficult to date with certainty. No pins appears in contexts dated to before AD 150 and only a few in contexts dated to between AD 150 and 250. Most derive from deposits dated to the late third to fourth century AD.
