A copper alloy buckle dating from about AD 1660 - 1720. The frame is sub-rectangular in plan with convex end and biconcave sides. It is decorated with scrolls on the sides and transverse grooves on the ends. It is drilled for a separate iron spindle which is missing along with the plate. Compare examples on page 99 - 101 of Whitehead's Buckles. The buckle is 23.4mm long, 17.6mm wide, 3.3mm thick and 2.41g.
