Tinned cast copper alloy buckle frame dating from the post-medieval period, that is the mid 17th to early 18th century. The buckle frame had a shiny mid grey patina and was probably tinned. The frame is sub-rectangular and has two co-joined annulets with a double-stranded bar between them. One narrow edge has iron corrosion remaining, probably from the now missing pin. The long edges have slightly concave exterior sides and is formed by a central flattened pellet with a scroll motif either side. The reverse of the frame is flat. The central cross bar is missing.
A similar buckle frame is illustrated in Whitehead (1996), No. 613 and is dated to the mid 17th to early 18th century.
An identical buckle was recorded under LANCUM-36F03E.
