Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A flint scraper of probable later Neolithic date (2700 -2350BC). It is broadly sub oval in plan and irregular in cross section. The scraper is formed from a blade like flake of tertiary debitage, on course grained flint. The scraper is mid to dark grey coloured. There is a small area of cortex present on the upper surface edge. The retouch is short, sub-parallel and abrupt. This type of scraper is the most common type of tool found within flint assemblages of later Neolithic or early Bronze Age (Beaker) date, being a multi-function cutting and scraping tool which were infrequently hafted.

The scraper measures 30.4mm length, 19.5mm wide, 5.7mm thick and weighs 3.9 grams.
