Post-medieval copper alloy hooked book mount. There are four V-shaped notches in the fish tail terminal and, close by two overlapping double concentric punched rings, both with a central hole, one containing decayed iron. Both sides are chamfered from the terminal until shortly before the hook, and a similar double ring-and-dot occupies the centre. Between the ends of the chamfers there is a group of closely packed longirtudinal grooves of differing lengths and before the hook two transverse rows of rocker-arm engraving. Length 48.5mm. Width 18.5 - 29mm. Thickness 1.4mm. In the centre of the reverse and 12mm from the springing of the hook an integral rivet (diameter 2mm, length 4mm) is set near the end of a rectangular (21 x 11mm) area of rust, which is evidence of an iron spring. 16th century.
