Badly distorted fragment of a medieval copper alloy decorative binding strip from a casket, both ends broken. A narrow D-section bar with two domed oval bosses, one in the centre and the other, pierced for attachment, at a break. No gilding has survived. Extant length c.50mm. Width 2.9 and 7mm. A well-known 12th- to 13th-century type normally associated with high status castles and manorial sites (Goodall, A. 1982; Barton and Holden 1977, 60).
