A complete stamped sheet copper-alloy clog or shoe clasp of late post-Medieval or Modern date (c. 1790-c. 1930).

The main part of the clasp is sub-rectangular in plan and has parallel sides.

This part is decorated at the front with a stamped flower which has a central stem with one flower head and two buds. There is a border of scrolled or foliate design. On the rear face a partial imprint of the design can be seen. At one end there is an integral 'anchor'-shaped hook and at the opposite end there is a small central projection forming a smaller hook.

This clasp has a green patina at the front and a brown patina at the rear. There are small areas of corrosion on both faces.

Length: 26.1mm; width: 16.4mm; thickness: 3.6mm. Weight: 1.98g.

For a variety of illustrated types and a description on how these clasps were used, see: Read 1995, 178-9, refs. 1207-1220.
