An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1500-c. 1650).
The pin and one loop are missing.
The loop is 'D'-shaped in plan, convex at the front and flat at the rear. The upper face is bevelled internally. At the centre of the outer edge a projection in the form of a fleur-de-lis is flanked on either side a pair of oblique parallel ridges. The bar is triangular in cross-section, flat at the rear. At each end of the bar there is a small knop/projection. The rear face is flat.
This buckle loop is green with iron staining and the breaks are not clear.
Length: 20.7mm; width: 20.6mm; thickness: 2.4mm. Weight: 1.59g.
Compare with published buckle with a slightly different projection at the outer edge (Whitehead 2003: 64, ref: 393).
