An Early Medieval copper alloy strap end of c. AD 800-925 date; Thomas Class A, Type 3. The strap end is lozenge in plan with a flattened, wider eged at one end and has a flat rectangular cross secton. The object is formed of one peice with a slit at the flattered end where there are two rivet holes, the rivets are absent. One of the holes is damaged. The other end the strap end terminates in a very worn zoomorphic terminal. The upper surface has been deocrated with a silvered anthropomorphic design, most of which has now been lost. The design depicts a stylised human face in the center of an intricate lace pattern. The reverse of the starp end is undecorated.
