A fragment of a copper alloy Medieval to Post-Medieval 'apostle' spoon terminal (c. AD 1400 - 1600). Only the terminal of the handle survives, consisting of a standing figure. The figure is standing on a rectangular pedestal and is draped in a cloak. It is uncertain if the figure is male or female. The figure is holding their right hand up to their face and is holding a square object in their left hand, possibly a book or a box. The reverse of the figure is flat and undecorated, with a fragment missing from the left side of the figure's head.
The terminal measures 40.7 mm in length, 13.1 mm wide, 5.3 mm thick and weighs 10.22 g.
Geake describes apostle knops as being late Medieval to early Post-Medieval in date, c. AD 1400-1600. Apostle spoons frequently formed sets of twelve and there are a number of comparable objects on the database including, LANCUM-7B8C6A and SOM-A72AE5.
