Lead spindle whorl. Cast whorl of probably plano-convex profile though perhaps a flattened cylindrical form with an [ineptly] moulded central aperture of diameter c.7-6.5mm, cf. Walton Rogers forms A2 and B; patinated overall. The spindle aperture size would admit an identification as an Anglo-Saxon whorl, while the mass may hint at a primary function plying cord. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 500-850.
