A complete lead weight or gaming piece of probable medieval to post-medieval date, circa AD 1200 - 1800. The object is conical with a flat circular base and sides which taper to an off-centre, flattened apex. A rectangular recess is present at the apex though it is not possible to determine if this was an intentional feature.
The metal is a light-grey colour and is worn. The object is 23.7mm in diameter, 10.3mm tall and weighs 18.2g.
Weights with simple designs are very easy to make and continued in use for a long period. They have a huge range of forms and designs which were not necessarily related to function and could have been used for various purposes such as counting, weighing or gaming.
