Post Medieval gold finger ring, plain D shaped band, inscribed internally with 'Accept My goodwill'

Judy Rudoe examined the ring and concluded,

The inscription matches in form and content that found on two gold posy rings in the collection of the British Museum, 1961,1202.383 and 1961,1202.384, both dated broadly to the 17th or 18th centuries. The former is also a plain, D-shaped band.

The inscription is also found on another gold Post-Medieval posy ring which was submitted as potential Treasure, 2014 T711 (GLO-7F9E13), whose date of manufacture was also judged to be 17th-18th century.

Conclusion: The ring is likely to date from the 17th or 18th centuries. Without an identifiable and dateable maker's mark, it is not possible to say with confidence that it was made in 1715 or earlier. It would thus appear to fall outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
