An early Roman copper-alloy hinged dolphin brooch. The wings are cylindrical and contain an axis bar for a hinged pin. The pin is missing. The terminal of both wings are decorated with a vertical groove. The faces of both wings are decorated with a diagonal groove, extending from the outer lower corner to the upper inner corner. The bow is comma shaped, triangular in section, and decorated with hatched rib running down the middle, flanked either side by a moulded linear border. A triangular catchplate survives on the reverse.
