Early Medieval hooked tag: The copper alloy tag is triangular with the upper two corners having obliquely angled corners. The lower corner extends to form a hook which curls towards the reverse of the tag. The hook is terminates with a rounded edge and is short in depth. Towards the upper edge there is a perforated circular hole towards each corner. The outer face of the hooked tag is decorated with a border consisting of two double stranded lines formed by rows of small oval stamps. In between the two strands there is a line of very small ring and dot stamps. The centre of the tag is undecorated. The reverse of the tag is undecorated. The tag measures 22.51mm long, 20.37mm wide, 4.38mm thick at the hook, and weighs 1.28g.
The hooked tag is likely to be a Read (2008) Class A, Type 1 which date to the 7th to early 12th centuries.
