A ceramic body sherd of early-Medieval date. It is hard fired and dark grey at the core and slightly paler grey at the surfaces. It has an abundant sand temper, sparse mica and rare sub-angular quartzite pebbles (c.0.5mm). York Ware.
The fabric types and variability are characterised by Holdsworth (1978) and Mainman (1990)

A number of other Early-Medieval ceramic sherds are known from the immediate vicinity (YORYM-26070B, YORYM-25DF1E and YORYM-261102)

The vessel fragment is 37.9mm long, 35.9mm wide, 9.2mm thick and weighs 13.5g.
