An incomplete copper alloy possibly Iron age La Tene III brooch (AD 20-100) which is missing the head, spring and pin. The brooch has been curled inwards upon itself so the head and the catchplate are touching. The catchplate has been bent inwards upon itself. It measures20.1mm in length, 4.55mm wide and weighs 3.76 grams.
The head of the bow and the majority of the spring are missing, the neck expands from the integral coil and projects outwards at a ninety degree angle to form the thickening bow. The bow is broadly lozengeform in cross section.
The incomplete catchplate would have extended to one side of the lower bow, the catchplate has been bent inwards upon itself.
