A complete cast copper alloy seal matrix. The seal matrix has a circular die and a tapering handle which is oval in cross-section. The handle terminates with a rounded suspension loop which has a circular perforation. Between the upper part of the handle and the suspension loop is a horizontal groove. At the centre of the cut die is a device of two birds, one on the back of the other. Around it is the inscription which reads ALAS IE SV P[--]S. The last word probably originally read P[RI]S. The inscription is in French and translates as" Alas I am taken".
