Copper alloy possible needle fragment. Round section rod made by rolling and hammering sheet metal of thickness c.1.5mm. One end is crimped to form a blunt terminal; a break at the other end may be at the site of an eye. The construction and the blunt end may both suggest a use for sewing loose sacking, or perhaps in the repair of nets, rather than for passing through the tighter weave of clothing. Suggested date: Late Medieval, 1350-1500.
