A coin brooch made from a halfpenny of Henry I, Canterbury mint, Moneyer Winedei (North 872), cAD1107 (EMC 2015.0120). The reverse of the coin has been gilded and pierced by six small circular holes of which four are in line. Three holes retain rivets, which are presumably also of silver. Of the three empty holes one has clearly been punched from the obverse.

Martin Allen comments:

This is the first known Henry I round halfpenny of the Canterbury mint, by the moneyer Winedei, reading +PIN[--]EIONC. I have records of 16 other Henry I round halfpence, from 10 other mints (Hereford, Lincoln, London, Norwich, Oxford, Sandwich, Wallingford, Wilton, Winchester and York).
