A lead alloy musket ball of post-Medieval date, circa 1644. There are two small, oval depressions flanking a short ridge, indicating where the casting sprue has been removed with nippers. Other smaller marks and striations may be caused by gas erosion. The ball has a pale, yellowish-grey patina. It is 13.6mm in diameter and weighs 14.72gm. The weight suggests it would have been used in a large pistol. (Harding (2012) Lead Shot of the English Civil War: a Radical Study.)
