A complete Medieval to Post Medieval pewter annular buckle frame. The buckle consists of a sub-circular frame which has beaded decoration around the outer circumference. The frame is bevelled along the outer and inner circumference, creating a slight raised ridge on the frame. The frame appears to have once had moulded lettering, although the only discernible letter remaining is the letter 'R' at one end of the strap bar. The strap bar itself is distorted, with three raised transverse ridges. Whitehead dates this type of buckle pg.45, no. 262 to AD 1400 - 1600 and comments that it was likely a shoe buckle.
The buckle measures 22.5 mm in diameter, 2.9 mm thick and weighs 3.39 g.
