Small fragment of a medieval gilt copper alloy furniture fitting, a D-sectioned strip widenening into domed lobes, both of which are truncated by a break. One lobe may have been pierced by an attachment hole. part of a class of object frequently encountered on post-Conquest high status sites, cf. Goddall, A.R. in Coad and Streeten 1982, fig. 43 nos. 13 and 14. Extant length 22mm. Width 2.2 - 6.4mm. 12th century.
