A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy mount (1600-1700).
This symmetrical mount is flat at the front and rear. The edges of the upper face are bevelled. In plan, it is lozenge-shaped at the centre with fleur-de-lis style terminal at each end. At the rear there is an integral tapering spike at each end, rectangular in cross-section.
The front is tinned and the rear face is coarse and greyish green.
Height: 26.5mm; width: 18.1mm; thickness: 2.3mm; thickness including longest spike: 7.4mm. Weight: 4.70g.
A similar mount from South Somerset has been dated c. 17th century (Read 2001: 28. fig. 21. ref: 316).
