A post medieval copper alloy buckle dating to the period c AD 1660-1720. The buckle frame is complete but missing its spindle. It is a sub-annular shoe or knee buckle with a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The buckle is decorated with multiple transverse grooves on each end of the frame. In the centre of the frame, on either side, there is a central spherical knop over the spindle and on either side, a scooped concave section. The buckle is slightly convex at the front from the spindle fitting. The back of the spindle is undecorated with raised square sections just about the spindle fitting. There is corrosion beside the holes for fitting the spindle and the ends of the spindle appear to be in the frame.
