Incomplete medieval copper alloy strap end, elongated and tongue-shaped and, most unusually, constructed from five elements, a front and rear outer sheet plate (most of the latter missing), two full-width sheet spacers, and a cast piece at the front of the knop. All five are secured by a rivet at the knop, while a (missing) second rivet near the attachment edge would have fixed the strap to the outer plates. On both sides before the knop there is apir of cut-outs, one curved and one rectangular. Two more curved cut-outs on the knop itself come before a bifid, probably foliar moulding. Rockerp-arm engraving on the front plate comprises a very long saltire with short straight lines within the angles. Length 64.9mm. Width 7.8mm at the knop, 10.8mm at the attachment edge. Lengths of spacers 42 and 45.5mm. 14th century.
