An incomplete copper-alloy Polden Hill brooch with folded wing ends type.
One of the wings remains intact, with only a small portion of the other surviving. The underside of the cylindrical wing has a false spring, the individual coils of which have been defined either by casting or the addition of grooves. A pair of vertical grooves decorates the upper surface of this intact wing. Part of the axis bar is contained within the cylinder, and the now-missing pin would have been hinged via the central slot. The arched bow, broken at the base, is of D-shaped section, with a pair of longitudinal ridges at the centre of its upper surface.
Length: 19.6mm; width: 31mm. Weight: 7.15g.
