A complete flint polished axehead of Neolithic date. It is struck from a mottled pale grey to white flint, is roughly triangular in form and pointed oval in section with flattened/faceted edges. The rounded butt end is complete and has limited short, long angled and scaled retouch on both faces. Both sides of the axe have flattened, rectangular faces that are smoothly polished and narrow towards each end of the axe. Each of the faces are smoothly polished with few flake scars visible, although with some orange/brown staining probably resultant from plough damage. At the blade end the axe is triangular in profile, tapering towards the cutting edge, and appears to have been re-sharpened, with extensive transverse scratches either a result of polishing/shrpening or use-wear. The cutting edge is crescentic in form with slight damage at its centre, and sharpened unevenly to one side. The axe measures 142.54mm in length, 60.62mm in width, 26.42mm in thickness and 250.69g in weight. This axe dates to the Neolithic period, c.4000-2550 BC.
