Date: Deposited during the period AD 1574 to AD 1578.

Discussion: The latest coins of the hoard have the eglantine initial mark which was used on coins between 1574 and 1578 (North 1991: 131)

It is interesting to note that three of the coins, numbers two, fourteen and sixteen, have been bent in what appears to be a deliberate way inconsistent with post-depositional movement. There is increasing evidence of this from metal detecting finds and it has been suggested that coins were bent when making a vow to a saint to cure an illness or afflication (Kelleher 2011: 267-8).
