An incomplete post-Medieval to Modern copper-alloy military button of the Isle of Wight (or Vectis) Cavalry (c. 1817).
The attachment loop is missing.
This button is circular in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. The front it is decorated with a crown above 'VECTIS' in capital letters with sprigs of foliage below. The front is silvered and the rear is covered with concreted soil, although a stub of the loop can be seen.
